3 Day Full Body Detox

Many people don't know WHY detoxing your body is so important to maintain your health. I'm here to fix that!

We don't realize all of the toxins we consume or allow into our bodies on a regular basis. It's insane. Most Americans (myself included) eat out on average of FOUR TIMES PER WEEK, whether it be in a nice restaurant or grabbing something quick during your day. Rarely anyone cooks or preps, but as of lately people have become more aware of how important healthy dieting is for their overall wellbeing.

Even with this knowledge, at some point we still must make it a goal to cleanse our systems of most of the toxins we consume (getting rid of every last toxin is impossible if we're being technical). The best detox, whether it be 3 days long, 3 weeks long, or 3 months long is done by eliminating foods that can contain toxins or that tax our bodies digestion process such as meats, grains, sugars, processed foods, etc. This allows our bodies to rid of those toxins and focus more on all of the nutrients/vitamins/minerals we are supposed to reabsorb from healthier foods.

Detoxing in this way improves your hair/skin health, it gives you energy, allows you to think more clearly, and improves your internal health as well. My last MAJOR detox was an 8 month Pescatarian diet where I was meatless (aside from seafood) and dairy/gluten free for 8 months. The results were incredible. My skin was beautiful and glowing, My body was slim, I wasn't bloating anymore and my hair had grown like crazyyyy! Now, I do shorter duration detoxes usually lasting 1 week per cleanse, and I am here to share with my beginners how to get started with a SIMPLE, affordable 3 day "weekend" cleanse.

Be aware that for this short cleanse, you will be eating the same thing every day. I will give a few options to snack on, but just remember you're doing this for your HEALTH, not for the pure enjoyment of consuming food. Commit yourself to putting your health first and you won't regret it!

This 3 Day Detox Program only requires 8 INGREDIENTS! That's it. I will leave options but they are not required nor necessary, only for those with the extra cash to switch things up.

Grocery List:

-Egg whites (I buy the carton for 4$) for protein, heart and muscle health.

-Almond nuts for the healthy fats and protein

-Spinach for its fiber and source of vitamin C

-Non Fat Greek Yogurt (3) try to get something low in sugar. greek yogurt will give you the probiotics your body needs as well as protein and a healthy source of B12. I prefer Oikos greek yogurt brand.

-Red Onion for its antioxidants and hair/skin health.

-Strawberries for vitamin C, fiber, antioxidants & skin health.

-Avocado (3) for your healthy source of fats, glowing skin, healthy hair, and heart health.

-Bananas (6) for your daily source of potassium, calcium, iron, and magnesium.

-Tea of your choice *optional* (green tea is best, but my favorite is the Laci Le Beau Super Dieter's Tea Cleanse )

It's important to understand that your body doesn't need as much food as you think it does. It NEEDS the essential vitamins and minerals it gets from healthy foods like those listed above, but you don't have to indulge on food all day around the clock. Most people eat out of boredom, which is something you have to control during a cleanse. What helps me best is that when I get bored or feel the need to eat something, I drink water or tea instead and the craving usually dies down because something is being sent through my body for digestion/reabsorption OR suppressing my appetite with ACV. It's only three days. You can do it!

BREAKFAST

Strawberry-greek yogurt (1/2 cup of yogurt per meal) fruit bowl topped with almond nuts with a side of egg whites. *those looking for extra healthy fats can add 1/2 avocado with their egg whites*

I also advise to start your day off with tea or lemon water! This helps to kick start your metabolism and gives you a boost of energy.

SNACK #1

Banana with Cinnamon *optional

LUNCH

Green Smoothie made up of strawberries, banana, greek yogurt (1/2 cup per meal) and spinach. Add as much water/coconut water to this as you would like, and feel free to add protein powder to this if need be!

SNACK #2

Handful of almond nuts

detox water or chia seed water

*see my post on blends of detox water by clicking here!

DINNER

Spinach salad (~3 cups fresh spinach) topped with

almond nuts (~1/4 cup), onion (~1/2 cup to 1 cup), 1/2 avocado and strawberries (*optional*)

You can use 1 tablespoon of vinaigrette dressing, olive oil, or vinegar.

This is literally it! I highly suggest drinking lots and lots of water and tea during this cleanse to further improve your overall health and keep you feeling fuller for longer (drink a glass of water with EVERY meal/snack at the very least). This is super simple, super inexpensive and superrrrr doable if you are serious about cleansing your body. It's just a little sample of my week long detox, and I will list alternative snack/meal options below if you ever decide to go longer than three days (which I HIGHLY encourage!!!!)

I hope this helped those who are looking to detox their bodies and rid themselves of the harmful toxins we are so unaware we even possess within ourselves and consume on a regular basis. I try to do these full body cleanses once every month or so, and I find juicing + smoothies (no artificial sugar) keep me on my toes and super super energized for the duration of this cleanse as well. I wish you all the best of luck on your detox journey! Remember to like, comment, subscribe and leave any questions on the contact potion of my blog!
