What’s in my Gym Bag?



Hi guys! A lot of you have been asking what I bring with me to the gym, so I thought I’d show you! It’s currently 27 degrees in Lafayette, LA and I’m trapped to the confinement of my own home until noon tomorrow, so what better time to talk about what I bring to the gym than a time I should most definitley be in the gym (sigh).

Anywho, all of what is shown in the pic doesn’t necessarily go or stay in my bag. I usually put my pre workout supplement Amino Energy (which isn’t a preworkout just an energy boosting amino acid powder bc the chemicals in pre workout freak me out) or a squirt of my Zilla energy boosting water flavor into my large bottle and carry that in with me. That’s what I drink for the duration of my workouts with SUPER COLD water. It keeps me focused without feeling jitters like some experience with pre’s.

Also, my NeoProMedical waist trimming sweat band is usually around my waist before I step foot in the gym. When I tell you THAT THING WORKS MIRACLES. I’ve lost inches in my waist just from wearing my band when I work out and when I take it off it’s usually drippy drippy with sweat (I recommend keeping a Walmart bag in your gym bag for sweaty items)

the rest usually is in my bag until needed and I’ll list them below:

1. Headphones

This is pretty self explanatory. Nobody wants to workout to the sound of elliptical machines and loud over dramatic male grunts (Don’t act like we don’t know y’all do the most, guys)

2. Squat belt

The squat belt in the top left is used when I squat, deadlift, or bench heavy. As a former powerlifter I’m very precautious with lifting with protection, the worst thing you could do is damage your body trying to lift without the proper equiptment! When I do wear my belt of course my sweat band does come off, but it goes right back on when I’m through.

3. Baby towel & self made facial cleanser

This is extremely important for me to bring, not only because I avoid showering in the gym but because sweat on my face will irritate my skin if not cleaned Asap. I have a baby face and need my baby towel (or bath cloth, whatever you folks call it) to keep me right! The small clear black cap bottle is just a little anti bacterial mix I made with water, aloe Vera and tea tree oil that I put into my towel and wipe the sweat from my face. It’s super refreshing and I usually don’t need much to make it through a workout.

4. Resistance bands

These babies are great to me. I just got the ones in the pic and I love them so much! They intensify nearly any and every workout and I feel it in my soullllllllllllll. I will be uploading some workouts with these bands, and they’re great for those of you who workout from home!

5. Gloves

Gloves are important when dealing with free weights especially. I use them most often for deadlifting and bench press, but some use them for pull ups, squats etc. they take the stress off of your palms while protecting your hands from getting those nasty tears.

6. Protein shaker cup and a snack

After a long hard workout I need a good healthy snack and my protein shake to restore the nutrients my muscles need to repair themselves. Immediately following a workout I’ll snack on a banana or protein bar with my drink. As you can see, my shaker cup has a screwable compartment at the bottom that I use for my powder until I’m ready to mix it into my water/almond milk. If your cup doesn’t have this compartment or you use yours for nuts and snacks, just put your protein in a zip lock bag or a sauce size Tupperware (the real small ones) and you’ll be fine! *or if you’re like me, put the powder in your shaker cup w no water, then pour the powder into the top cap to your cup, put the water in and the powder goes back in. But hey, I’m an innovator lol

Lastly, deodorant and chapstick explain themselves. Though I don’t usually shower in the gym, deodorant is always good to have after a good wipe me down until I can get home to shower. Chapstick is great because it’s cold outside and ya girl can’t get caught slipping 🤷🏽‍♀️

*I also usually always carry a lock in my bag to use on the lockers, but unfortunately they had to clip my last lock off bc it got jammed :( but invest in a good lock!

That’s it! That’s what’s in my gym bag.

I do reccomend if you’re a busy bee and shower at the gym to pack fresh under garments, clothes, and a towel to dry off with along with some soap and a comb!
