SOWHATCHASAYIN?

Hey guys! I'm excited to be able to share my latest collab with everyone! I was featured on the infamous "SoWhatchaSayin," a BLACK OWNED super funny, interesting and authentic podcast (iTunes link will be attached) hosted by Corey J, Ricky, Erica and Shaun. I had so much fun! The talent on this podcast is amazing, so I thought it would only be right that I did a mini interview so you can get to know the faces behind the mic (excluding Erica who unfortunately couldn't be there)

What inspired you to begin podcasting?

Corey: "It started maybe two years ago, me and ricky were talking about doing it because ricky's people think he's funny. At first I wanted to do music with him but Ricky shut that down quickly (he's not a rapper LOL) So we went from wanting to do music to wanting to start a podcast with the knowledge we had on music, because music history is my thing. Ricky stays up to date with all the current music and from the conversations we had I figured why not start a podcast and even get people included in the conversation.

It was going to just be me and Ricky, but then we saw Shaun tweet about wanting to start a podcast the day we brought up the idea which was crazy; and even crazier because I had already had Shaun in mind.

Ricky: This all happened early 2017 and we got to talking about we're gonna do this & that, but it never came to happen. Almost exactly a year later in January of 2018 we started putting plans to fruition and buying equipment, and we got together to record for the first time, started running it and here we are now.

Do you have an ultimate goal for your podcast in mind?

Ricky: I want to reach everybody. This is a hobby to me. If it blows up then, it just does but I enjoy talking to people and listening to the different shit they talk about,.

Corey: I definitely want to use this platform to put a spotlight on Slidell talent and hopefully put somebody on some CashMoney Contracts yaherdme. My endgame is to get on the radio; this is all a resume for me.

Shaun: I want to keep doing this shit forever. Doing podcasts, getting paid, ads and sponsors. If it could lead to being on TV or even just like being on the radio that'd be lit.

What advice can you give to anyone looking to start a podcast?

Ricky: JUST BE YOURSELF. When we started it was hard to cope with actually hearing ourselves talk on the mic and hearing our voice but not liking how it sounded; first we were going to do all music but then we thought to have different people on and talk about different shit and after that everything just started flowing.

Corey: I'd say just get some shit and do it! I'm all for creatives, creating. If someone wants to start a podcast but don't know how to go about it I have all the equipment you can come here, I'll hit record and you can get to talking. It's really not as simple as coming in, hitting record and just talking; the one thing that kills podcasts to me personally is dead space. That's how you throw off ya groove. So be prepared, make sure you know what you're talking about (don't come out here just being loud and wrong)

Shaun: We really can talk about anything from music, sports, or even current events in the world. If we don’t have an interview set up, we can come in and come up with something and make it seem like a regular conversation. When it comes to interviewing, it’s a little different because you’re trying to get the person to open up and speak on their interest and whatever it is that they do. It really just depends on how we feel that day because one day we can come in and stay on one topic for the whole episode and another day we can have 10 different topics. Setting up a mic and recording yourself is the easy part. The hardest part is making sure your quality is right, having a spot to record, paying for your Soundcloud every month and keeping the conversation going. You have to be able to talk to people and keep the energy flowing.

Experiencing the energy with these hosts was something crazy. We were all dying laughing the entireeeeee time if y'all only knew how hard it was to contain my laughter throughout the recording (you can clearly hear me in the back giggling for a lot of it). The authenticity was very appreciated and the flow of the conversation came so natural; I am knowing Corey, Ricky, Shaun, and Erica are going to go so far with their podcasting journey.

Now, for the best part! THE PODCAST! Ricky, Corey and Shaun managed to break me out of my shell QUITE A LOT (clearly), so this recording is not only filled with my true, wild, off the wall personality..but it's got ALL D TEA! From my challenges and successes with blogging, why and how I got started, plans for my career in nursing, my future business plans for NEXT YEAR (an all exclusive spill on this, might I add), the insider on the racial twitter battle that broke out in my mentions this past week, and SOOOOO MUCH MORE!

You don't want to miss this. I've done podcast interviews in the past, but this one right here is super raw and I've heard nothing but great things about it; so much that I'm already planning on interview 2 with this crew!

Click here to listen to my feature on SoWhatchaSayin and be sure to SUBSCRIBE to the podcast for all of the latest, greatest, and most HILARIOUS spills from Corey, Rick, Erica and Shaun! P.S.. I finally got my signature on their recording studio wall!

don't say I didn't warn you guys :)
