Houston Appreciation Weekend (Recap)

What does one expect from a weekend dedicated to the appreciation of good ol' Houston, Texas?

Personally speaking, when my friends Irry and Brit told me that HAW was ironically the same weekend we had planned to have our annual friendcation on, I had no idea what it would consist of (other than the fact that Drake was involved, which was more than enough info for me). None of us had ever experienced HAW, but all of us were equally excited to find out what all we could get into out in the H!!!

THURSDAY NIGHT: THE TOUCHDOWN

Thursday was pretty hectic to say the least. From taking my 3rd exam at 9am that morning to going into work, having to find time to get the nails and toes done (couldn't let Houston folk catch me slipping) and all of the last minute extras that needed to be handled before the trip, I had a full day up until 6pm when we were supposed to be packing the car and heading to the H.

Now of course, we stood by the good ole "Black folks never on time" "Women take hours to get ready" stigmas. We ended up doing a slight beat and heading to Houston around 9:30pm. (Better late than never, right?) The plan was to go straight out upon touching down but we were genuinely so tired, we tapped and decided to sleep it off for a full day Friday instead.

FRIDAY: THE LITUATION

IT'S LIT! Friday we started our day super early (of course took forever to get ready) and had brunch at the Black Walnut Cafe. Following brunch we went on a mad hunt for the "cope" graffiti wall (which by the way we NEVER FOUND) and settled for an old aesthetic feel of a building where we snapped up and then made our way back to the crib.

After a quick outfit switcherupper (one of 314253267 times this day) we headed to Prospect Park for the Habibiz Hookah Party, a part of the HAW event line up, and were even a part of channel 11's coverage of the event and posted on Prospect Park's instagram page! (It's fun being cute sometimes lolol). I think by this point we were 5 or 6 drinks in, including 2-3 shots of patron so we were big chilling for a while, until it was time to head to the next spot.

A FEW HOURS LATER....

Surprise! Yet another outfit change! It was time for the big event hosted by Lil Wayne and we DID NOT COME TO PLAY! Now..for a plethora of reasons I will keep the details of this night to a minimum, but IT WAS CRAZY. We pregamed (will not discuss the amount of liquor that was consumed) We made it to the event. We got lit. We saw drake. Everybody was lit. We got home and crashed. What more could you ask for? (Click each picture for our Instagram, and where we got our outfits!)

SATURDAY: THE KNOCKOUT

My favorite day was definitely Saturday! We had a bomb breakfast, and the OVO Pool party WAS LIT. Everyone was there. Celebs...chocolate light skin asian white Spanish people you name it!!!!! We of course, came to slay per usual and met alot of cool people in the mix of it. We somehow managed to end up in a section with lots and lots of brown, clear, and hookah, so a girl really couldn't complain. BUT unfortunately we got carried away and didn't make it out that evening due to loss of all ability to function (nvr mix patron w champagne/henny)

Before you think we're a bunch of drunk crazy girls I would like to shine light on the fact it was Britt's bday celebration. I am not a drinker, but when the time comes for a turn up...whatever happens happens and I HAPPENED to end up drooooonk for the weekend (like the good friend I am)

SUNDAY: GALLERIA, LOUNGE AND CHILL

So let me branch this off from Saturday's events because I did manage to wake up around 1am Sunday morning after a long lit day at the pool. Someone snapped Irry saying Drake was at the strip club so what did we do? HEADED TO THE STRIP CLUB. (Britt was completely dead as she should have been being that it was her birthday, so we let her rest at home) The night was young, Irry and I didn't end up going to bed until about 7am and the day continued with brunch + mimosas (I got my usual shrimp and grits) and a trip to the Gallo! I love the Galleria even though it can be overwhelming with all it has to offer. After some hours of shopping we made our way to Live Oak Lounge for the day party where we had some more drinks, were surrounded by hookah and had a good time until it was practically night time and we were ready to head back home.

This in summary was just HALF of the fun that we had during our time in houston. Drake was fine as ever. We were fine as ever. The weather was GORGEOUS. The people were super sweet and the new friends we made were just as lit as we were! I love that every time I make my way to the H it's almost like I'm from there with the amount of new people we end up surrounded by and having a good time with. I'm definitely anticipating next year's HAW and can't wait to be back for the fun (and hopefully have enough stamina to do ALL of the activities) !!!

**I also went to HAW and completely forgot to get coverage specifically for CPsyche, so I'm happy I had enough to share with you all but I will be sure to collect more coverage from events and such for my next trip!**
